2019 State of Search Marketing Survey

SEMPO is proud to announce our latest iteration of the annual State of Search Survey is now open.  SEMPO is partnering again with Forrester to field and analyze the 2019 State of Search and Talent Survey that continues to explore search marketing as part of the larger digital marketing mix.

As the survey title suggests, and as part of SEMPO’s initiative to help with the “war for talent” in our industry, this year’s survey includes expanded questions around hiring/retaining search talent including staffing plans, salaries, benefits/perks, etc.  The survey also continues its unique approach to collect data on separate tracks for Marketers and Agencies that allows for valuable comparisons and analyses not available with other digital marketing surveys.

Other valuable insights we seek to gain from the 2019 will come from questions about channel-specific information like marketing strategies, metrics, challenges, technologies, as well as future initiatives within the digital industry.

The survey is open to SEMPO members and non-SEMPO members alike. The complete survey results will be available to all SEMPO members.

Participants in the survey will receive a complimentary copy of the report. All responses are anonymous.

Committee Description

The SEMPO Research Committee is tasked with conducting primary research on the impact and importance of SEM as a marketing tool, as well as with engaging in research regarding search marketing issues.

SEMPO research is very important to our members and our industry, to help us track, understand, and evolve both search behavior and the commercial aspects of search. BtoB Magazine, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, CNBC, Mashable, MediaPost, and Search Engine Journal are just a few of the media outlets that pick up our press releases and report on our research.

The SEMPO Education and Research Committees collaborate to produce Industry Polling each month. Polls are posted on the pages as well as on SEMPO blog. Stay tuned in each month for the Chat with Industry Experts as they review the results of the poll and openly discuss the monthly theme.

State of Search (SOS)

SEMPO's annual State of Search Marketing Report tracks marketer opinions regarding search marketing, market sizing and budget planning issues, and market evolution. Industry members benefit and learn from this data and use it to spur dialogue between consultants, clients, and vendors involved with growing digital marketing initiatives. Together with other industry surveys and case studies, we learn from where we have been and plot our collective direction.

Search Salary Survey (SSS)

SEMPO's bi-annual Search Salary Survey gives search marketers and agencies insights to benchmark compensation in the industry. Beyond the simple understanding of wages, the whole salary package including other benefits and workload are analyzed.
